The Big Snow

Well we got a huge snowstorm this weekend- 10 to 12 inches. A ton of snow (church was even cancelled!) It took a long time to dig out Sunday morning. Aaron piled a ton of snow next to the garage wall so they could make a snow fort. So here it is! (The entrance is to the left of them). They even went inside tonight to make a fire. Boys.

And here is the latest picture of Tia, in a rare sleepy moment.

Injuries

Tomorrow I will post pictures of our injuries that have occurred in the past 3 days. They are:

Asher: scratches from dog, on face
fallen down stairs TWICE (which has never happened til now)
bloody nose from falling face first on Lego tower

Owen: black and blue chin from mis-judging his jumps on my bed during "naptime." Landed on my dresser. Looks like Jay Leno.
huge scratches on face from dog

What was I thinking?

I must need a night out more than I realize.
It was 6:45 pm, which means nearly an hour to kill before I can put anyone to bed. Aaron just left, so I'm on my own. Instead of popping in a video, I decide to let Owen play with the big dry-erase board. He loves that thing. Asher wanders in to me checking my email and I tell him to go find Owen.
So I'm checked out, emailing away, and I hear too much noise in the next room. After inquiring a few times as to what they're doing, I finally "come to" and realize Owen has just said something like, "Not coloring on the walls..." and then I hear scribbling. On walls.

So I go into the hall and see scribbles on the wall, and then I see Asher's head. It looks like big raindrops of water, except they are brown dry erase marker dots in his HAIR. Then I turn the corner and there is marker on the large wall, 2 tables and Owen's pjs (Asher's too, but I didn't notice til much later).

I reacted pretty strongly and marched into the laundry room. Smart little Asher grabbed a shirt off the floor and started rubbing the marker off the wall! So we scrubbed together, I put Asher to bed, and as Owen and I scrubbed some more, we had a pretty funny conversation. Keep in mind, he's experimenting with how to express his feelings.

"I'm really sorry I colored on this wall."
Me too, Owen. Why did you do this?
I just did, I don't know. I'm really sorry.

Owen: You hurt my feelings that you're frustrate...ing. (frustrated)
Me: No Owen, your feelings are not hurt, you just don't like being in trouble. If you don't like being in trouble, you need to make good choices.
Owen:But you hurt my feelings.
Me: Well you hurt my feelings by coloring on this wall
O: I'm really sorry.
Me: I forgive you

O: I'm sorry that I colored on your sweet wall
Me: I know sweetheart. It's ok. I forgive you.
O: I forgive you too

So as I breathe fumes from an entire box of Mr Clean Magic Erase sponges, and watch the paint come off the wall, I figure at least he was sorry, and cute in the process.

Here are the latest phrases coming out of the mouths of our kids:

Asher: T-yah! (the dog's name is Tia)
shhju (juice)
mah (used with a toy cluthched tightly to his chest, it means MINE!)
Papa! Mama! (this is loud and is best used at 5:30 am, meaning come get me now!)
O-wah (Owen)

Owen: Do we have to give her back? (this is after he slid into the dog, turning her into a 3-legged hobbler)
I'm frustrated about that.
I'm having a rough day (he uses this one at the appropriate times).
I'm really sorry I slid into her (again, about the dog)
I just stepped into a pile of pee.
Mama, I love you. I love you all the time, I don't love Papa all the time. Or Asher. Just you.

We got a dog!

Now can we get some help with names?

PS- Please do not call and tell me how crazy I am. I couldn't agree more.
